Thunderbird Hotel is a four-piece rock band out of Dodge City, KS founded in 2021. The project came after brothers Hugo Hernandez and Alonso Carranza discussed creating a blend of their biggest musical influences. Hugo then invited Orlando Galvan of the local band Aether to do lead vocals and David Leiker out of Garden City, KS to play drums and percussion. Together they create a sound that draws listeners with catchy, clean melodies, eclectic guitar hooks and tones, and a solid rhythm section that will get your head bopping. The band has released several singles in the last couple of years. Songs like “Queen of the Radio”, “Critic”, and “Thin” showcase the band’s rock n roll drive while songs like “Complacent” show a more mellow/singer-songwriter side of the band.

The band name comes from an old Dodge City motel called “Thunderbird Motel”. If you’ve ever been through Dodge City, you likely have seen a big neon sign with a totem pole. One day Hugo and Alonso were cruising the town when they passed by the motel, it immediately clicked and the band took on the theme and name, Thunderbird Hotel.

The band plans to record more music and land bigger shows with time. Thunderbird Hotel can be seen performing live all around Kansas and surrounding states, so be sure to catch a show if you’re in the area!
